The Battle of Oriskany Historical Society
The Battle of Oriskany Historical Society began in 1966 and revealed their first museum displays on Memorial Day 1967. They were heavily involved in planning the village's bicentennial celebrations honoring the birth of our nation in 1976 and the anniversary of the battle in 1977. First located above the former Oriskany Public Library at 806 Utica Street in the village, the collection expanded to the entirety of the building when the library relocated to their new building in 1989. In the early 1990s, a campaign was begun to raise funds for a dedicated museum building in Trinkaus Park, formerly Point Field, on the east side of the village. This was achieved with the help of many patrons and the current museum opened on Memorial Day weekend 1997.
